From 27 to 30 July, the Dutch Championship four-in-hand and Dutch Championship para-driving races were held at the excellent driving center of Riant Stables in Beekbergen.
A completely new experience for us and also under special circumstances. One day downpours of rain and the next day the most beautiful sunshine. And that did have an influence on the terrain, it became a tough event.
On the heavy and slightly displaced dressage ring it was less possible to move the figures correctly. But Shake A Leg braved the tough course wonderfully.
The A-section of the marathon was canceled due to the heavy terrain conditions and was replaced by an entry route. This was new for us and immediately our pitfall, we started too early on route B, the obstacles. After completing the first 3 (of 6) obstacles, we were disqualified for this part due to the early start. Very unfortunate.
Our goal for the cones was to not throw off any balls and to stay within time if possible. The first one worked, all the balls stayed on the cones. But due to exceeding time and a small hiccup in the route, I received the necessary penalty points.
Looking back: I had a lot of fun riding at a unique event, learned a lot and could have done better, but still had a nice ride. On to Beekbergen 2024!
